One of the best parts being in the tech-sphere is meeting enthusiastic individuals and watching them grow.

For the past three months, The Distance has been the home of intern Ellie Lundie after she stumbled upon us during a careers fair. We asked her what she thought to her time with us:

One of my best summers began when I visited a careers fair with the aim of making some contacts for the future. Instead, I was invited to have an interview and then work at The Distance for three months. From day one, I felt like part of the family. I was immediately welcomed and supported by everyone and enjoyed attending the company social events. On my 10th day I got to help celebrate the company’s 10th birthday and hear about the amazing work the company has done.

I worked on styling five projects, mostly focusing on Content Management Systems (CMS) but with some components and pages being implemented into the mobile apps. It was exciting when I would see an app using my components or pages. I have felt my confidence grow over my three months as working with The Distance showed me I am capable of creating amazing pieces of work. In the future, I imagined myself working within databases, but learning with The Distance to style components and pages of the apps, and supporting on CMS creation, has been a truly enjoyable experience, and has inspired me to look at continuing after I graduate.

Ellie fit right into The Distance family – so much so that she’ll be continuing to work with us part-time whilst she studies for her third year of university!

Good luck with third year, Ellie, and thanks for our new mascot! We look forward to your joining the team properly once you’ve graduated!
