THE BRIEF

Richmond’s Personal Best is a six-level General English course designed for today’s busy young adults who want to maximise their language learning experience. As part of their digital transformation, they wanted to take this course beyond traditional formats and into the mobile space. Their goal was to provide users with a streamlined, accessible experience that enhances learning on the go.

THE PROBLEM

Richmond set out to bring their course content into the digital world, making it more accessible and interactive. That meant not just finding a place to store, manage, and update everything but also rethinking how the content worked. With students engaging through their devices instead of a textbook, they had to look at it from a whole new angle.

THE SOLUTION

The Distance highlighted early on that Richmond would need to develop a CMS to manage and create the courses. They would also require a front-end application for their end users to interact with the course and feedback data to the CMS.

Based on the partner's goals, it was also identified that 'gamification' needed to be applied to the courses, as it would be a great way to get users to interact with it more.

THE RESULTS

The application was released to the stores and provided to their users as part of a digital package that their users could purchase. This was available to teachers and students, and positive feedback was received.

The CMS was used internally by Richmond to manage the content and allowed them to update the content on the fly, in case any changes needed to be made or new courses needed to be added. This gave them full control to manage the content and enhance their offerings.
