UX Designer

Location: The Distance, York

Role Type: Full-time, Permanent

We are looking for a UX Designer to join our discovery team, reporting to our Head of Operations and working within the operations team. You will need to be able to manage a busy and diverse workload. In this role, you should be an analytical and creative UX designer who is able to grasp user needs and solve problems. This will require a proactive, forward-thinking mindset with excellent computer literacy and verbal communication skills. A strong portfolio of successful UX and other technical projects is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to facilitate Discovery workshops with our team and clients (in person and remote)
  • Supporting clients to understand their goals and pain points
  • Define user flows and information architecture diagrams
  • Develop wireframes and prototypes around customer needs
  • Analysing client feedback and iterating to enhance the user experience
  • Find creative ways to solve UX problems (e.g. usability, findability)
  • Work with UI designers to implement attractive designs
  • Communicate design ideas and prototypes to developers
  • Keep abreast of mobile industry and UX trends
  • Proven experience as a UX Designer, UI Designer or similar role
  • Strong portfolio of design projects
  • Familiarity with interaction design and information architecture
  • Problem-solving aptitude
  • Analytical mind with a business acumen
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Coordinate remote/in-person user testing sessions and document results

Key skills

  • Artistic eye for design and ability to think creatively
  • Excellent organisational, time and project management skills
  • Experience of design tools such as Adobe XD, Figma, etc
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • An understanding of the latest trends and their role in a commercial environment
  • Self-development skills to keep up to date with fast-changing trends
  • Fluent knowledge of Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines and Google’s Material Design
  • Professional approach to time, costs and deadlines
  • Bachelor’s degree in visual design or equivalent experience
