Launching the New Cosmetics Fairy Site

In November The Distance launched the new Cosmetics Fairy website; a Magento Community website that has a large product catalogue. Cosmetics Fairy is a retailer of discount cosmetics and alongside creating a new design for the site we introduced a number of features to engage with their customers and repeat visitors.

A new Fairy Loyalty Scheme was created to reward a registered customer that allows them to earn Fairy Points as they shop that can be redeemed against future purchases. With such a large catalogue of discount cosmetics we also created a Deal of the Week feature with a sign-up option to allow customers to register for email notifications of new deals. The new features allow the site to engage with their customers and encourage repeat visits.

Smoko goes live

We have had the pleasure of working with the guys over at Smoko on the launch of their new electronic cigarette company. We worked with them across the branding, photography, ecommerce development, packaging and on-going marketing campaign.

It’s a great case study of how offline and online can work exceptional well together. They have a great offline strategy made up of kiosks in shopping centres across the country helping drive traffic online for the refill cartridges.

Todd from Smoko comments: “In 2012, we built up a chain of retail stores throughout the UK and felt the natural progression for our brand was to establish an online presence to further our mission of giving smokers everywhere their freedom back.”

“Our website will offer better ways of customer engagement through reward and referral programs, social media channels, customer feedback/reviews and e-commerce.

“We fully expect the Smoko website to be a critical piece towards making the SMOKO brand the global leader in electronic cigarettes.”

Integrate Google shopping with Magento Go – Part 3

Finally, after much delay, we come to our third, and final, part of how to integrate Google Shopping with Magento Go.

First things first, a bit of house keeping. Since Part 2 there has been an update to the Google Shopping product taxonomy. Thankfully this is an easy and painless task, simple go to this link and follow the simple instructions in “Step 1″, “Step 2″ will be dealt with later in this tutorial. After that everything should be up to date.

So, last time we set up additional attributes required by Google and mapped them to the products. This time around we will map the Magento Go attributes with the Google Shopping attributes to make sure Google Shopping pulls in all the relevant information.
