Allow me to introduce myself; I’m Asha, Junior SEO Consultant and one of the latest additions to the digital marketing team at The Distance. I’ve been with the agency for around a month now and the time has come to embark on The Distance rite of passage: blog writing. So, here is my first of many blog posts for The Distance journal.

The past few years has seen e-commerce redesign the process of shopping. With consumers able to access e-commerce sites via their laptops or mobiles, shops can now be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, it means competition for sales has increased as buyers now have access to shops all over the world and not just on their high street. Google trusted stores

Google have just introduced a new service for customers selling online, introducing, Google Trusted Stores.

This will essentially be a badge on ecommerce websites that will assure customers that they have a great track record. It also works in a PayPal’esque way in the sense that if you have a problem with your purchase, Google will work with the customer and the store to come to a resolution. (more…)

Facebook ‘Want’ button & Magento

I got a very interesting blog post from Magento this morning. Magento now supports Open Graph 2.0 and with that the new Facebook ‘Want’ button.

What is the Facebook ‘Want’ button?

In the coming months Facebook’s want button will be available, whilst browsing ecommerce websites you be faced with a ‘Want’ button next to the normal like button. Once clicked you will essentially build a public wishlist on your Facebook profile. Great for working out what your friends and family want for christmas or birthdays. Even better for ecommerce websites embracing the technology quickly.
